AnwendungenKaliumnitrat hat eine Vielzahl von Anwendungen. Geeignete Präparate von Kaliumnitrat finden Verwendung in Düngemitteln, Konservierungsmitteln für Lebensmittel, Zahnpasta, Raketentreibstoffen und Feuerwerkskörpern. Darüber hinaus wird es auch als Elektrolyt in einer Salzbrücke und als thermisches Speichermedium in Stromerzeugungssystemen eingesetzt. Es bildet Phasenänderungsmaterial mit Silika- und Aluminiumoxid-Nanopartikeln. In Kombination mit Bortrifluorid bildet es ein effizientes Reagenz für die Nitrierung aromatischer Verbindungen. Adsorption an Aluminiumoxid ist ein umweltfreundliches aromatisches Nitratierungsmittel.
Löslichkeit
Mäßig löslich in Wasser und unlöslich in Alkohol. Löslich in Glycerin und Ammoniak.
Hinweise
Es ist ein Oxidationsmittel. Stabil unter normalen Bedingungen. Nicht kompatibel mit Reduktionsmitteln und Alkoholen.
