Triphenylphosphine dibromide is used as a reagent for conversion of aldoximes into nitriles. It acts as a reagent for cleavage of acetals. It reacts with amines to give iminophosphoranes. Further, it serves as a reagent in the preparation of alkyl and aryl bromides from alcohols and phenols without rearrangement.

Anwendungen
Triphenylphosphindibromid wird als Reagenz für die Umwandlung von Aldoximen in Nitrile verwendet. Es dient als Reagenz für die Spaltung von Acetalen. Es reagiert mit Aminen, um Iminophosphorane zu ergeben. Darüber hinaus dient es als Reagenz bei der Herstellung von Alkyl- und Arylbromiden aus Alkoholen und Phenolen ohne Umlagerung.

Löslichkeit
Löslich in Wasser, Dichlormethan, Acetonitril, Phenylcyanid, Dimethylformamid, Äther, Chloroform, Alkohol, Tetrachlorkohlenstoff, Essigsäure und Kohlenstoffdisulfid. Schwerlöslich in Phenylchlorid, Triphenylphosphin und Phenylhydrid. Unlöslich in wässrigem Brom.

Hinweise
Feuchtigkeitsempfindlich. Kühl lagern. Nicht kompatibel mit starken Basen, starken Oxidationsmitteln, Basen und aktiven Metallen.
