(Trimethylsilyl)diazomethane is used as a methylating agent in organic chemistry. It is utilized in Gas Chromatography- Mass-Spectrometry (GC-MS) for the analysis of various carboxylic compounds. It is involved as a reagent in the Doyle-Kirmse reaction with allyl sulfides and allyl amines. It is considered and used as a less-explosive replacement fordiazomethane. It is also used as a reactant for Unnatural alfa-amino acid derivatives containing gem-bisphosphonates through Michael addition reaction, imidazolo[2,1-b]benzothiazole derivatives and aigialomycin D analogues.

Anwendungen
(Trimethylsilyl)diazomethan wird als Methylierungsmittel in der organischen Chemie verwendet. Es wird in der Gaschromatographie mit Massenspektrometrie-Kopplung (GC-MS) für die Analyse verschiedener Carbonsäureverbindungen verwendet. Es ist als Reagenz an der Doyle-Kirmse-Reaktion mit Allylsulfiden und Allylaminen beteiligt. Es wird als weniger explosiver Ersatz für Fordiazomethan betrachtet und verwendet. Es wird auch als Reaktionsmittel für unnatürliche alfa-Aminosäurederivate verwendet, die Gem-Bisphosphonate durch Michael-Additionsreaktion, Imidazol[2,1-b]Benzothiazol-Derivate und Aigialomycin D-Analoga enthalten.

Nicht mit Wasser mischbar. Mischbar mit gängigen organischen Lösungsmitteln.

Hinweise
(Trimethylsilyl)diazomethan (TMSD) in alkoholischen Lösungsmitteln unter sauren oder basischen Bedingungen kann zur Bildung von Diazomethan führen. TMSD wird vom National Toxicological Program auf mögliche Inhalationsgefahren überprüft. Inkompatibel mit Oxidationsmitteln, Chlor, Fluor und Perchloraten.
