Description
Trimethyl phosphate is used as a color inhibitor for polyester and other polymer preparations, flame retardants and plasticizer. It acts as a solvent for aromatic halogenations and nitration reactions. It is used as a mild methylating reagent which is used in the dimethylation of aniline and related heterocyclic compound. Furthermore, it is involved in the synthesis of 1-methyl-pyridinium; dimethyl phosphate by reacting with pyridine.

Trimethylphosphat wird als Farbinhibitor für Polyester und andere Polymerpräparate, Flammschutzmittel und Plastifizierer verwendet. Es dient als Lösungsmittel für aromatische Halogenierungen und Nitrierungsreaktionen. Es wird als mildes Methylierungsreagenz verwendet, das bei der Dimethylierung von Anilin und verwandter heterocyclischer Verbindung verwendet wird. Weiterhin ist es an der Synthese von 1-methyl-pyridinium; Dimethylphosphat durch Reaktion mit Pyridin beteiligt.

Mit Wasser mischbar.
Hinweise
Feuchtigkeitsempfindlich. Behälter an einem trockenen und gut belüfteten Ort dicht verschlossen halten. Nicht kompatibel mit starken Basen und starken Oxidationsmitteln.
