Triethyl citrate acts as a plasticizer for polyvinylchloride and plastics. It is also useful in pharmaceutical coatings. It is employed as a dye entrapment for the preparation of emission membrane filters for contact fluorescence imaging. It is also employed in fabrication of green nanocomposites from cellulose acetate. It finds application as a pseudo-emulsifier in e-cigarette juices. Further, it functions like Lecithin and utilized in food products. In addition to this, it acts as a carrier reagent and sequestrant.

Anwendungen
Triethylcitrat fungiert als Plastifizierer für Polyvinylchlorid und Kunststoffe. Ist auch in pharmazeutischen Beschichtungen nützlich.
