Triethyl borate is used as a solvent in resins, paints, varnishes, adhesives and sealant chemicals. It is used as a catalyst of synthetic waxes and resins. It is an active component of flame retardants in the textile industry and in welding fluxes. It is used to prepare m-tolyl-acetic acid ethyl ester by reacting with 1-bromomethyl-3-methyl-benzene and carbon monoxide using as1,5-hexadiene?dium chloride as a catalyst. Further, it is used in pyrotechnics.

Anwendungen
Triethylborat wird als Lösungsmittel in Harzen, Farben, Lacken, Klebstoffen und Dichtmittelchemikalien verwendet. Es wird als Katalysator synthetischer Wachse und Harze verwendet. Es ist ein aktiver Bestandteil von Flammschutzmitteln in der Textilindustrie und in Schweißpulver. Es wird zur Herstellung von m-Tolyl-Essigsäure, Ethylester verwendet, indem es mit 1 -Brommethyl-3-Methylbenzol und Kohlenmonoxid mit 1,5-Hexadienepdium-Chlorid als Katalysator reagiert. Außerdem wird es in der Pyrotechnik eingesetzt.

Löslichkeit
Mischbar mit Alkohol und Ether.

Hinweise
Feuchtigkeitsempfindlich. Nicht kompatibel mit Wasser, starken Oxidationsmitteln, Mineralsäuren und starken Säuren.
