Tri-n-octylphosphine oxide is a solvent used in the extraction of metals, especially uranium, zirconium and hafnium. It is also used as an auxiliary reagent in the solvent extraction of metals. It is also used to extract hydrogen bonding organic compounds. Further, it is useful as a capping ligand for the production of quantum dots, such as those consisting of cadmium selenide.

Anwendungen
Tri-n-Octylphosphinoxid ist ein Lösungsmittel, das bei der Extraktion von Metallen, insbesondere Uran, Zirkonium und Hafnium, verwendet wird. Wird auch als Hilfsreagenz bei der Lösungsmittelextraktion von Metallen verwendet. Wird auch zur Extraktion von wasserstoffbindenden organischen Verbindungen verwendet. Ist darüber hinaus als Deckelligand für die Herstellung von Quantenpunkten, die z. B. aus Cadmiumselenid bestehen, nützlich.

Löslichkeit
Löslich in Chloroform, Toluol und Hexan. Unlöslich in Wasser.

Hinweise
Nicht kompatibel mit starken Oxidationsmitteln.
