Titanium(IV) isopropoxide is used as a precursor for the preparation of titanium and barium-strontium-titanate thin films. It is useful to make porous titanosilicates and potential ion-exchange materials for cleanup of radioactive wastes. It is an active component of sharpless epoxidation as well as involved in the synthesis of chiral epoxides. In Kulinkovich reaction, it is involved as a catalyst in the preparation of cyclopropanes.

Anwendungen
Titan(IV)-Isopropoxid wird als Vorstufe in der Vorbereitung von Titan- und Barium-Strontium-Titanat-Dünnschichten verwendet. Nützlich in der Herstellung poröser Titanosilikate und potenzieller Ionenaustauschmaterialien zur Reinigung radioaktiver Abfälle. Es ist ein aktiver Bestandteil der Sharpless-Epoxidierung und beteiligt an der Synthese chiraler Epoxide. In der Kulinkovich-Reaktion ist es als Katalysator an der Vorbereitung von Cyclopropanen beteiligt.

Löslichkeit
Löslich in wasserfreiem Ethanol, Ether, Benzol und Chloroform.

Hinweise
Feuchtigkeitsempfindlich. Kühl lagern. Behälter an einem trockenen und gut belüfteten Ort dicht verschlossen halten. Nicht kompatibel mit starken Oxidationsmitteln und starken Säuren. Reagiert mit Wasser zu Titandioxid.
