Tetraethylammonium tetrafluoroborate is used as a phase transfer catalyst in organic synthesis. It finds application as an electrolyte additive in the capillary electrophoretic separation of polyphenols found in grape seed extracts. It is also used to prepare other tetrabutylammonium salts in aqueous solutions. It is involved in the synthesis of conducting poly(thiophenes).

Anwendungen
Tetraethylammonium-Tetrafluorborat wird als Phasentransferkatalysator bei der organischen Synthese verwendet. Es wird als Elektrolytzusatz bei der kapillarelektrophoretischen Trennung von Polyphenolen, die in Traubenkernextrakten vorhanden sind, verwendet. Es wird auch zur Herstellung anderer Tetrabutylammoniumsalze in wässrigen Lösungen verwendet. Es wird bei der Synthese von leitenden Poly(Thiophenen) verwendet.

Löslichkeit
Löslich in Wasser, Alkohol und Acetonitril.

Hinweise
Hygroskopisch. Nicht kompatibel mit starken Oxidationsmitteln.
