Description

A compound used to convert alkyl halides into the corresponding alkylthiocyanates. Undergoes nucleophilic substitution reactions with phase-transfer catalysts. Silver thiocyanate may be used as well, the precipitation of insoluble silver halides help simplify workup. Treatment of isopropyl bromide with sodium thiocyanate in a hot ethanolic solution affords isopropyl thiocyanate.

Anwendungen
Eine Verbindung, die zur Umwandlung von Alkylhalogeniden in die entsprechenden Alkylthiocyanate verwendet wird. Mit Phase-Transfer-Katalysatoren werden nukleophile Substitutionsreaktionen durchgeführt. Silberthiocyanat kann ebenfalls verwendet werden, die Fällung von unlöslichen Silberhalogeniden erleichtert das Aufarbeiten. Die Behandlung von Isopropylbromid mit Natriumthiocyanat in einer heißen Ethanollösung ermöglicht Isopropylthiocyanat.

Löslichkeit
Löslich in Wasser (1250 g/l), Alkohol und Aceton.

Hinweise
Hygroskopisch, vor Feuchtigkeit und Wasser schützen. In einem gut abgedichteten Behälter kühl und trocken lagern.
