AnwendungenNatriumnitrat wird bei der Herstellung von Düngemitteln, Salpetersäure, Pyrotechnik, Rauchbomben, Glas- und Keramiklack verwendet. In Kombination mit Bortrifluorid bildet es ein effizientes Reagenz für die Nitrierung aromatischer Verbindungen. Adsorption an Aluminiumoxid ist ein umweltfreundliches aromatisches Nitratierungsmittel. Weiter findet es Verwendung als Konservierungsmittel für Lebensmittel und als Feststofftreibstoff für Raketen. Es wird auch als Elektrolyt in einer Salzbrücke und als thermisches Speichermedium in Stromerzeugungssystemen verwendet.
Löslichkeit
Frei löslich in Wasser, Ammoniak und Hydrazin. Löslich in Alkohol. Schwer löslich in Pyridin.
Hinweise
Natriumnitrat ist hygroskopisch.
