Sodium bis(2-methoxyethoxy)aluminum hydride acts as a reducing agent in organic synthesis. It is used to prepare azoxyarenes, azoarenes and hydroazoarenes from nitroarenes. It plays an important role for the conversion of aldehydes, ketones, carboxylic acids, esters, acyl halides and anhydrides to primary alcohols. It is also employed in hydroaluminate alkenes and alkynes. It is utilized in the reduction of lactones and epoxides into diols. Further, it serves as a methylation reagent for aryl-activated compounds. In addition to this, it is involved in the reduction of amides, nitriles and amines to the corresponding amines.

Anwendungen
Natriumbis(2-Methoxyethoxy)Aluminiumhydrid wirkt als Reduktionsmittel in der organischen Synthese. Wird zur Herstellung von Azoxyarenen, Azoarenen und Hydroazoarenen aus Nitroarenen verwendet. Spielt eine wichtige Rolle für die Umwandlung von Aldehyden, Ketonen, Carbonsäuren, Estern, Acylhalogeniden und Anhydriden in primäre Alkohole. Wird auch in Hydroaluminat-Alkenen und Alkynen eingesetzt. Wird bei der Reduktion von Lactonen und Epoxiden zu Diolen eingesetzt. Dient darüber hinaus als Methylierungsreagenz für arylaktivierte Verbindungen und ist an der Reduktion von Amiden, Nitrilen und Aminen auf die entsprechenden Amine beteiligt.

Löslichkeit
Mischbar mit aromatischen Kohlenwasserstoffen, Äther, Tetrahydrofuran, Dimethylether und Dimethylformamid. Unmischbar mit aliphatischen Kohlenwasserstoffen.

Hinweise
Luft- und feuchtigkeitsempfindlich. Behälter an einem trockenen und gut belüfteten Ort dicht verschlossen halten. Nicht kompatibel mit Wasser, Oxidationsmitteln und brennbaren Materialien.
