All-trans-Retinol, Vitamin A, Retinol (CAS-Nr. 68-26-8) ist ein fettlösliches Vitamin, das Retinoidrezeptoren innerhalb von Zellen bindet.

It induces cell differentiation and apoptosis of some cancer cell types and inhibiting carcinogenesis. It plays an essential role in metabolic functioning of the retina, the growth of and differentiation of epithelial tissue, the growth of bone, reproduction, and the immune response. It acts as a ligand for both the retinoic acid receptor (RAR) and the retinoid X receptor (RXR) that act as transcription factors to regulate the growth and differentiation of normal and malignant cells.

Anwendungen
Induziert die Zelldifferenzierung und Apoptose einiger Krebszelltypen und hemmt die Karzinogenese. Spielt eine wesentliche Rolle bei der metabolischen Funktionsweise der Netzhaut, dem Wachstum und der Differenzierung von Epithelgewebe, dem Wachstum von Knochen, der Reproduktion und der Immunantwort. Fungiert als Ligand sowohl für den Retinoinsäure-Rezeptor (RAR) als auch für den Retinoid-X-Rezeptor (RXR), der als Transkriptionsfaktor zur Regulierung des Wachstums und der Differenzierung von normalen und bösartigen Zellen dient.

Löslichkeit
Praktisch unlöslich in Wasser oder Glycerin; löslich in Absolutalkohol, Methanol, Chloroform, Äther, Fetten und Ölen.

Hinweise
Kühl lagern. Behälter an einem trockenen und gut belüfteten Ort dicht verschlossen halten. Empfohlene Lagertemperatur: -20 °C. Luft- und feuchtigkeitsempfindlich. Unter Stickstoff lagern. Von starken Oxidationsmitteln fernhalten.
