Baking powder, medicine (cathartic), component of Fehling's solution, silvering mirrors.Potassium sodium L-tartrate tetrahydrate is used in the process of silvering mirrors. It is active ingredient in the Fehiling’s solution and Nylander’s test involved in the determination of reducing sugars. It is utilized to break up emulsion in organic synthesis as well as a common precipitant in protein crystallography. As a Biuret reagent, it is used to measure the protein concentration. Furthermore, it is used as laxative and is also used in food industry.

Anwendungen
Backpulver, Arznei (kathartisch), Bestandteil der Fehlingschen Lösung, Versilberung von Spiegeln. Kaliumnatrium-L-Tartrat-Tetrahydrat wird bei der Herstellung von Silberspiegeln verwendet. Aktiver Wirkstoff in der Fehlingschen Lösung und in Nylanders Reagenz zum Nachweis von reduzierenden Zuckern. Verwendet zum Aufbrechen von Emulsionen in der organischen Synthese sowie häufig als Fällungsmittel in der Proteinkristallographie. Als Biuret-Reagenz Verwendung zur Messung der Proteinkonzentration. Zudem Verwendung als Laxativum und auch in der Lebensmittelindustrie.

Löslichkeit
Wasserlöslich. Unlöslich in Alkohol

Hinweise
Verliert bei 140° Kristallwasser. Über 225° instabil. Nicht kompatibel mit starken Oxidationsmitteln.
