Phthalic acid is used as an active ingredient in polyesters and alkyd resins. It is also used as plasticizers for polyvinyl chloride and other polymers. It is also useful in the production of anthraquinone, phenolphthalein and phthalocyanine pigments. It serves as an organic reagent in the production of phthalates. It is used to prepare 1,3-cyclohexadiene by reduction using sodium amalgam.

Anwendungen
Phthalsäure wird als Wirkstoff in Polyestern und Alkydharzen verwendet. Es wird auch als Weichmacher für Polyvinylchlorid und andere Polymere verwendet. Sie ist auch bei der Herstellung von Anthrachinon-, Phenolphthalein- und Phthalocyanin-Pigmenten nützlich. Es dient als organisches Reagenz bei der Herstellung von Phthalaten. Es wird zur Herstellung von 1,3-Cyclohexadien durch Reduktion mit Natriumamalgam verwendet.

Löslichkeit
Löslich in Wasser, Alkohol und in Äther mit Alkohol löslich. Schwer in Wasser, Methanol und Äther löslich. Nicht in Chloroform löslich.

Hinweise
Nicht kompatibel mit starken Oxidationsmitteln.
