Phenyl chloroformate is used in the synthesis of poly(2-(phenoxycarbonyloxy)ethyl methacrylate) and phenyl-(4-vinylphenyl) carbonate. It acts as a precursor of phenyl mixed anhydrides which are used in peptide coupling reactions. It serves as a dehydrating reagent for the conversion of primary amides to nitriles and an intermediate in the synthesis of pharmaceuticals and carbamates.

Anwendungen
Chlorameisensäurephenylester wird bei der Synthese von Poly(2-(phenoxycarbonyloxy)ethylmethacrylat) und Phenyl-(4-vinylphenyl)carbonat verwendet. Dient als Vorläufer von Phenyl-Mischanhydriden, die bei Peptidkupplungsreaktionen verwendet werden. Dient als wasserentziehendes Reagenz bei der Umwandlung von Primäramiden in Nitrile und als Zwischenprodukt bei der Synthese von Pharmazeutika und Carbamaten.

Löslichkeit
Mischbar mit N,N-Dimethylformamid.

Hinweise
Kühl lagern. Feuchtigkeitsempfindlich. Behälter an einem trockenen und gut belüfteten Ort dicht verschlossen halten. Nicht kompatibel mit Basen, Alkoholen und Aminen. Hydrolysiert in Wasser.
