Der NIST-rückverfolgbare Fluorescein-Standard wird als kalibrierte 50 μM-Lösung von Fluorescein in 100 mM Natriumboratpuffer, pH 9,5, geliefert. Unter diesen Bedingungen ist Fluorescein vollständig ionisiert und befindet sich daher in seiner fluoreszierendsten Form. Dieser Standard erfüllt die strengen Kriterien des National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) und ist direkt zum Standard-Referenz-Material 1932 (SRM 1932) rückverfolgbar. Der NIST-rückverfolgbare Fluoreszenzstandard kann verwendet werden, um die alltägliche oder experimentelle Variation in fluoreszenzbasierten Instrumenten zu beurteilen und um den Wert für die Moleküle von äquivalentem löslichem Fluorophor (MESF) für eine experimentelle Lösung zu bestimmen.
