Mercaptosuccinic acid is used in the preparation of mercaptosuccinic acid diethyl ester by reaction with ethanol. It is also used as a brightening agent in metal plating. Further, it serves as an intermediate for the synthesis of corrosion inhibitors, soil fumigants, active pharmaceutical ingredients and electroplating agents.

Anwendungen
Mercaptosuccinsäure wird bei der Herstellung von Mercaptosuccinsäure-Diethylester durch Reaktion mit Ethanol verwendet. Wird zudem als Aufhellungsmittel in der Metallbeschichtung verwendet. Darüber hinaus Verwendung als Zwischenprodukt für die Synthese von Korrosionshemmern, Bodenbegasungsmittel, pharmazeutischen Wirkstoffen und Galvanikmitteln.

Löslichkeit
Löslich in Wasser, Alkohol und Aceton. Schwer löslich in Äther. Unlöslich in Benzol.

Hinweise
Nicht kompatibel mit starken Oxidationsmitteln und starken Basen.
