The interaction of magnesium oxide substrates with nickel ferrite films has been investigated using a wide range of electron optical techniques. Considerable interdiffusion is observed, which is likely to alter the magnetic properties of these films. Epitaxial ferrite-spinel layer is formed on magnesium oxide substrate. Additionally, Magnesium oxide in nanoparticles dispersed in alcohol have been reported to inhibit hydrolytic and oxidative degradation of paper documents.
