L-Phenylalaninol acts as an antiulcer agent that reduces the secretion of gastric acid and prevents ulcer formation. It inhibits intestinal absorption of L-phenylalanine making it a prospective treatment for phenylketonuria. Further, it reacts with nitriles to form oxazolines, which finds application in palladium-catalyzed allylic substitution. In addition to this, it is also used in amidation for chiral resolution and nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide modeling.

Anwendungen
L-Phenylalaninol wirkt als Mittel gegen Magengeschwür, das die Sekretion von Magensäure reduziert und die Bildung von Magengeschwür verhindert. Es hemmt die intestinale Absorption von L-Phenylalanin und ist somit eine prospektive Behandlung für Phenylketonurie. Weiter reagiert es mit Nitrilen zu Oxazolinen, die Anwendung in Palladium-katalysierter allylischer Substitution findet. Darüber hinaus wird es auch in der Amidierung für die chirale Auflösung und die Modellierung von Nikotinamid-Adenin-Dinukleotid verwendet.
