Indium(III) chloride is used in famous organic reactions such as Friedel-Crafts acylation and Diels-Alder reaction as a lewis acid catalyst. It is an efficient catalyst for thioacetalization and its chemoselectivity. It catalyzes the enantioselective ring-opening of meso-aziridines with thiols.

Anwendungen
Indium(III)-chlorid wird in bekannten organischen Reaktionen wie der Friedel-Crafts-Acylierung und der Diels-Alder-Reaktion als Lewis-Säure-Katalysator eingesetzt. Es ist ein effizienter Katalysator für die Thioacetalisierung und ihre Chemoselektivität. Es katalysiert die enantioselektive Ringöffnung von Meso-Aziridinen mit Thiolen.

Löslichkeit
Löslich in Wasser und Tetrahydrofuran. Schwerlöslich in Alkohol und unlöslich in Äther.

Hinweise
Hygroskopisch. Nicht kompatibel mit starken Säuren und starken Oxidationsmitteln. Im geschmolzenen Zustand kann Indium(III)-chlorid Elektrizität leiten.
