Hexane mixed isomers are used in the laboratory to extract oil and grease contaminants from water and soil for analysis. As a non-polar solvent, it is used in chromatography. It plays an important role in the preparation of glues for shoes, leather products, and roofing. It is also used for reactions that involve very strong bases such as the preparation of Grignard reagents. Also involved in the preparation of organolithiums compounds, namely butyl lithium.

This Thermo Scientific Chemicals brand product was originally part of the Alfa Aesar product portfolio. Some documentation and label information may refer to the legacy brand. The original Alfa Aesar product / item code or SKU reference has not changed as a part of the brand transition to Thermo Scientific Chemicals.

Anwendungen
Hexan (gemischte Isomere) wird im Labor zur Extraktion von Öl- und Fettverunreinigungen aus Wasser- und Bodenproben eingesetzt. Wird als unpolares Lösungsmittel in der Chromatographie verwendet. Wichtige Komponente für die Herstellung von Klebstoffen für Schuhe, Lederprodukte und Dachbahnen. Wird auch für Reaktionen mit sehr starken Basen verwendet, zum Beispiel bei der Herstellung von Grignard-Reagenzien. Auch an der Herstellung von Organolithium-Verbindungen wie Butyllithium beteiligt.

Löslichkeit
Mischbar mit Alkohol, Chloroform, Aceton und Ether. Nicht mit Wasser mischbar.

Hinweise
Feuchtigkeitsempfindlich. Nicht kompatibel mit Oxidationsmitteln. Von Zündquellen fernhalten.
