Colloidal gold is an electron-dense, non-fading marker useful as a probe in electron microscopy, light microscopy and immunoblotting. It requires no additional processing for detection, but in some applications the signal can be enhanced by reaction with silver. It can be complexed with biomolecules by strong, non-covalent interactions. Particles less than 15 nm are most useful in transmission electron microscopy and for applications where access to the probe may be hindered by larger particles.

Anwendungen
Kolloidales Gold ist ein elektronendichter, nicht verblassender Marker, der als Sonde in der Elektronenmikroskopie, Lichtmikroskopie und Immunblotting eingesetzt werden kann. Es erfordert keine zusätzliche Verarbeitung für die Erkennung, aber in einigen Anwendungen kann das Signal durch Reaktion mit Silber verbessert werden. Es kann durch starke, nicht kovalente Wechselwirkungen mit Biomolekülen komplex werden. Partikel unter 15 nm eignen sich am besten für die Transmissionselektronenmikroskopie und für Anwendungen, bei denen der Zugang zur Sonde durch größere Partikel behindert werden kann.

Löslichkeit
Vollständig mit Wasser mischbar. Es ist löslich in Königswasser, Salpetersäure und Salzsäure.
