Vitamin B9. A B-complex vitamin necessary for the body to produce red blood cellsFolic acid acts as a vitamin (hematopoietic), a nutritional supplement and dietary requirement for poultry. It also plays an important role in the formation of S-adenosyl methionine and in the synthesis and repair of DNA and RNA. Further, it serves as an essential vitamin for erythropoiesis. It is also employed in the treatment of methanol poisoning. In addition to this, it is used in the treatment and prevention of folate deficiencies and megaloblastic anemia.

Löslichkeit
Löslich in Natriumhydroxid, Essigsäure, Phenol, Pyridin, Alkalihydroxide, Karbonaten, heißer verdünnter Salzsäure und Schwefelsäure. Schwer löslich in Wasser, Methanol, Ethanol und Butanol. Nicht löslich in Aceton, Chloroform, Ether und Benzol.
Hinweise
Licht- und wärmeempfindlich. Nicht kompatibel mit Schwermetallionen, starken Oxidationsmitteln und starken Reduktionsmitteln.
