Diethoxymethylsilane is used in the preparation of N,N'-methylsilanediyl-bis-phthalimide by reacting with phthalimide. It is used as a reagent in the selective reduction of carbonyl compounds, hydorosilylation of alkenes, tandem reductive aldol reaction and rhodium-catalyszed silylcarbocyclization.

Anwendungen
Diethoxymethylsilan wird bei der Herstellung von N,N′-methylsilandiyl-bis-phthalimid durch Reaktion mit Phthalimid verwendet. Es wird als Reagenz bei der selektiven Reduktion von Carbonylverbindungen, zur Hydorosilylierung von Alkenen, bei der tandemreduktiven Aldol-Reaktion und rhodiumkatalysierten Silylcarbocyclisierung verwendet.

Löslichkeit
Mischbar mit Wasser, 1,4-Dioxan, Tetrahydrofuran, Acetonitril, Dichlormethan, Chloroform, Dimethylsulfoxid, Hexamethylphosphoramid und Toluol. Unlöslich in Diethylether und Hexan.

Hinweise
Nicht kompatibel mit Oxidationsmitteln, Säuren und Basen.
