Dibromomethane is used as solvent in organic synthesis. It acts as an intermediate in the manufacture of specialty chemicals, agrochemicals and pharmaceuticals. It is useful as extractant and utilized for the determination of 5-nitroimidazoles (5-NDZ) in environmental waters. It is involved in the convertion of catechols to their methylenedioxy derivatives.

Anwendungen
Dibrommethan wird als Lösungsmittel in der organischen Synthese verwendet. Es dient als Zwischenprodukt bei der Herstellung von Spezialchemikalien, Agrochemikalien und Pharmazeutika. Es ist als Extraktionsmittel nützlich und wird für die Bestimmung von 5-Nitroimidazolen (5-NDZs) in Gewässern verwendet. Es ist an der Umwandlung von Katecholen in ihre Methylendioxyderivate beteiligt.

Löslichkeit
Mischbar mit Wasser, Chloroform, Aceton, Ether und Alkohol.

Hinweise
Kühl lagern. Unverträglich mit starken Oxidationsmitteln, Aluminium und Magnesium.
