Di-n-butyl ether is used as a solvent for Grignard, Witting and alkyl lithium reactions. It is also used as a solvent for oils and fats and some natural and synthetic resins. It is considered as a replacement for terathydofuran in organic synthesis due to its less water and peroxide and high boiling point. In the pharmaceutical industry, it is used in the manufacturing process of active pharmaceutical ingredient such as procarbazine and cefaclor. In addition to this, it is used as an important solvent for the application of the coating.

This Thermo Scientific Chemicals brand product was originally part of the Alfa Aesar product portfolio. Some documentation and label information may refer to the legacy brand. Anwendungen
Di-n-Butyl-Ether wird als Lösungsmittel für Grignard-, Witting- und Alkyl-Lithium-Reaktionen verwendet. Dient auch als Lösungsmittel für Öle und Fette und einige natürliche und synthetische Harze. Kann aufgrund seines geringeren Wasser- und Peroxidgehalts sowie seines hohen Siedepunktes als Ersatz für Terathydofluran in der organischen Synthese eingesetzt werden. Findet in der pharmazeutischen Industrie Anwendung in der Herstellung pharmazeutischer Wirkstoffe wie Procarbazin und Cefaclor. Darüber hinaus dient es als wichtiges Lösungsmittel für das Aufbringen von Beschichtungen.

Löslichkeit
Mischbar mit Alkohol, Ether und Aceton. Nicht mit Wasser mischbar.

Hinweise
Luft- und lichtempfindlich. Nicht kompatibel mit Oxidationsmitteln und starken Säuren.
