Description

Hat eine antipseudomonale und antiproteale Wirkung. Carbenicillin-Dinatriumsalz, MP Biomedicals, ist ein Carboxypenicillin-Antibiotikum, das die bakterielle Zellwandsynthese (Peptidoglykan-Vernetzung) durch Inaktivierung von Transpeptidasen auf der Innenoberfläche hemmt

Carbenicillin ist ein halbsynthetisches Antibiotikum, das analog zu Ampicillin ist. Es wird aus Benzylpenicillin abgeleitet, indem die a-Carboxylgruppe der benzylseitigen Kette ersetzt wird. Es wird vollständig im Blut ionisiert und ist zu etwa 50 % reversibel an Plasmaproteine gebunden. Seine Gewebeverteilung ähnelt anderen Penicillinen.

Ansprechende Bakterien umfassen grampositive und gramnegative Bakterien und Pseudomonas. Obwohl es In-vitro eine ebeträchtliche Aktivität gegen eine Vielzahl von grampositiven und gramnegativen Mikroorganismen aufweist, ist der wichtigste Aspekt seines Profils die antipseudomonale und antiproteale Wirkung.

Carbenicillin-Natriumsalz wird zur Auswahl ampR-transformierter Zellen und zur Untersuchung der Rolle von Penicillin-empfindlichen Transpeptidasen bei der Zellwand-Biosynthese verwendet.
