- Produces malodorous metabolic end products, make affected meat unpalatable
- STAA medium made selective by inclusion of streptomycin sulphate, thallous acetate and actidione (cycloheximide)
- Medium modified from original formulation by removal of toxic selective agent cycloheximide as recommended by NMKL
- According to this method this medium is applicable for meat, meat products and some fish products
