Acetophenone is used as a raw material in the synthesis of active pharmaceutical ingredients such as dextropropoxyphene and phenylpropanolamine. It is employed in organic synthesis and as a polymerization catalyst for olefins. It is involved in the preparation of styrene, 1-phenylethanol. It is also used as a active component of coatings and inks. It reacts with formaldehyde to prepare resins. Further, it is used in textile coatings, in perfumes for orange blossom odor. In addition to this, it is used as a solvent in plastics, adhesives and a flavoring agent in foods.

Anwendungen
Acetophenon wird als Rohstoff für die Synthese von pharmazeutischen Wirkstoffen wie Dextropropoxyphen und Phenylpropanolamin verwendet. Es wird in der organischen Synthese und als Polymerisationskatalysator für Olefine eingesetzt. Es ist an der Herstellung von Styrol, 1-Phenylethanol, beteiligt. Es wird auch als aktiver Bestandteil von Beschichtungen und Farben verwendet. Es reagiert mit Formaldehyd zur Herstellung von Harzen. Außerdem wird es in Textilbeschichtungen sowie in Parfümen für Orangenblütengeruch verwendet. Darüber hinaus wird es als Lösungsmittel in Kunststoffen, Klebstoffen und als Aromastoff in Lebensmitteln verwendet.

Löslichkeit
Mischbar mit Wasser, Chloroform, Ethanol, Ether, Benzol und Aceton. Leicht mischbar mit konzentrierter Schwefelsäure.

Hinweise
Lichtempfindlich. Inkompatibel mit starken Oxidationsmitteln, starken Basen und starken Reduktionsmitteln.
