4-(Trifluoromethyl)benzolsäure wurde bei der Synthese von Salicylanilid 4-(Trifluoromethyl)benzoaten über N,N′-Dichoklohexylcarbodiimid-Kopplung in trockenem N,N-Dimethylformamid verwendet. Es wurde als interner Standard bei der Ultraspurenanalyse fluorierter aromatischer Carbonsäuren nach der GC/MS-Methode verwendet.
