4-Methoxybenzoic acid is used in oxidation and reduction of cytochrome c in solution through different self-assembled monolayers on gold electrodes using cyclic voltammetry. p-Anisic acid has antiseptic properties. It is also used as an intermediate in the preparation of more complex organic compounds.

Anwendungen
4-Methoxybenzoesäure wird bei der Oxidation und Reduktion von Cytochrom c in Lösung durch verschiedene selbstorganisierte Monolagen auf Goldelektroden mit zyklischer Voltammetrie verwendet. P-Anissäure weist antiseptische Eigenschaften auf. Es wird auch als Zwischenprodukt bei der Herstellung komplexerer organischer Verbindungen verwendet.

Löslichkeit
Wasserlöslich bei 20 °C, 0.3 g/l. Löslich in Alkohol, Ethylacetat und Ether.
