4,4'-Dihydroxybiphenyl is used to prepare plastics. It serves as a laboratory reagent and an intermediate in the preparation of polyether liquid crystals. Further, it is used as an antioxidant agent for rubber and latex. In addition to this, it is used in light-colored rubber products, food packaging and medical latex products.

Anwendungen
4,4′-Dihydroxybiphenyl wird zur Herstellung von Kunststoffen verwendet. Es dient als Laborreagenz und Zwischenprodukt bei der Herstellung von Polyether-Flüssigkristallen. Darüber hinaus wird es als Antioxidansmittel für Gummi und Latex verwendet. Darüber hinaus wird es in hellen Gummiprodukten, Lebensmittelverpackungen und medizinischen Latexprodukten verwendet.
