2-Phenylphenol is used as a dye intermediate, plasticizer, rubber chemical and as a preservative in water-oil emulsions. It is used as an antimicrobial preservative in cosmetics and an antimicrobial additive in the manufacture of metalworking fluids, leather, adhesives and textiles. Further, it serves as a disinfectant in households, hospitals, nursing homes, farms, laundries, barber shops, veterinary equipment and food processing plants. It is also employed in the production of resins and rubber chemicals. In addition to this, it is used as a polymer material, stabilizer and flame retardant.

2-Phenylphenol wird als Farbstoff-, Weichmacher-, Gummi- und Konservierungsmittel in Wasser-Öl-Emulsionen verwendet. Es wird als antimikrobielles Konservierungsmittel in Kosmetika und als antimikrobieller Zusatzstoff bei der Herstellung von Metallbearbeitungsflüssigkeiten, Leder, Klebstoffen und Textilien verwendet. Darüber hinaus dient es als Desinfektionsmittel in Haushalten, Krankenhäusern, Pflegeheimen, Farmen, Wäschereien, Friseurläden sowie für Tierärztebedarf und in Lebensmittelverarbeitungsanlagen. Es wird auch bei der Herstellung von Harzen und Gummichemikalien eingesetzt. Darüber hinaus wird es als Polymermaterial, Stabilisator und Flammschutzmittel verwendet.

Löslich in Ethanol, Aceton, Benzol, Natriumhydroxid, Chloroform, Acetonitril, Toluol, Hexan, Ligroin, Ethylether, Pyridin, Ethylenglycol, Isopropanol, Glykolether und Polyglykolen.
Hinweise
Nicht kompatibel mit starken Oxidationsmitteln und starken Basen.
