An inhibitor of DMBA-induced mammary tumors2-Mercaptoethylamine hydrochloride acts as a precursor in taurine biosynthesis and component of coenzyme A. It is involved in the preparation of active pharmaceutical ingredients like ranitidine and nizatidine. It acts as an antidote for acetaminophen poisoning. Further, it is used in the oral treatment of nephropathic cystinosis, radiation sickness and disorders of cysteine excretion. In addition to this, it serves as an antioxidant and an inhibitor of 7,12-Dimethylbenz[a]anthracene (DMBA)-induced tumors.

Anwendungen
Ein Inhibitor von DMBA-induzierten Brusttumoren-2-Mercaptoethylaminhydrochlorid wirkt als Vorstufe bei der Taurin-Biosynthese und als Komponente von Coenzym A. Ist an der Herstellung von pharmazeutischen Wirkstoffen, wie etwa Ranitidin und Nizatidin, beteiligt. Dient als Gegenmittel für eine Acetaminophen Vergiftung. Wird darüber hinaus bei der oralen Behandlung von nephropathischer Cystinose, der Strahlenkrankheit und von Störungen der Cystein-Ausscheidung eingesetzt. Dient darüber hinaus als Antioxidans und Inhibitor von durch 7,12-Dimethylbenz[a]anthracen (DMBA) induzierten Tumoren.

Löslich in Wasser, Ethanol, Methanol und Dimethylsulfoxid.
