Beschreibung

2-Ethyl-1-hexanol is used as a flavor, fragrance and plasticizer. It is used to prepare diesters bis(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate. It reacts with nitric acid and used as an octane booster. Its ester, 2-ethylhexyl ester is a component of sunscreen octocrylene. Further, it is used as a low volatility solvent for resins, animal fats, waxes, vegetable oils and petroleum derivatives. In addition to this, it is used in plasticizer, dioctyl phthalate, which is used in the production of polyvinyl chloride products.

This Thermo Scientific Chemicals brand product was originally part of the Alfa Aesar product portfolio. Some documentation and label information may refer to the legacy brand. Anwendungen
2-Ethyl-1-Hexanol wird als Aroma, Duft und Weichmacher verwendet. Wird zur Vorbereitung von bis(2-ethylhexyl)-Phthalat-Diestern verwendet. Reagiert mit Salpetersäure und wird als Oktanverstärker verwendet. Sein Ester, 2-Ethylhexylester, ist ein Bestandteil von Sonnencremes mit Octocrilen. Wird darüber hinaus als Lösungsmittel mit geringer Flüchtigkeit für Harze, tierische Fette, Wachse, Pflanzenöle und Erdölderivate verwendet. Wird darüber hinaus im Weichmacher Dictylphthalat verwendet, der bei der Herstellung von Polyvinylchloridprodukten verwendet wird.

Löslichkeit
Mischbar mit gängigen organischen Lösungsmitteln. Nicht mit Wasser mischbar.

Hinweise
Nicht kompatibel mit starken Oxidationsmitteln, Alkalien, starken Basen und starken Säuren.
