2-(Chloromethyl)pyridine hydrochloride was used as reagent in base catalyzed alkylation of p-tert-butylcalix[6]arene and p-tert-butylcalix[5]arene in DMF. It was used in the synthesis of Gd3+ diethylenetriaminepentaacetic acid bisamide complex, a Zn2+-sensitive magnetic resonance imaging contrast agent.

Anwendungen
2-(Chlormethyl)pyridinhydrochlorid wurde als Reagenz in der basenkatalysierten Alkylierung von p-tert-Butylcalix[6]aren und p-tert-Butylcalix[5]aren in DMF verwendet. Es wurde bei der Synthese des Gd3+-Diethylentriaminpentaessigsäure-bisamid-Komplexes, einem Zn2+-sensitiven Kontrastmittel für die Magnetresonanztomographie, verwendet.

Löslichkeit
Löslich in Wasser, Aceton (10–50 mg/ml), 95%igem Ethanol (100 mg/ml).

Hinweise
Hygroskopische Lagerung in Inertgas. Von starken Oxidationsmitteln fernhalten. Behälter dicht verschlossen halten. Kühl und trocken in einem gut versiegelten Behälter lagern.
