2-Chloro-1-methylpyridinium iodide is a reagent in a wide variety of dehydrative coupling reactions. It is also used to form carboxylate esters from acids and alcohols, carboxamides from acids and amines, lactones from -hydroxy acids and carbodiimides from N,N-disubstituted thioureas.

Anwendungen
2-Chlor-1 -Methylpyridiniumiodid ist ein Reagenz in einer Vielzahl von dehydrierenden Kupplungsreaktionen. Es wird auch zur Bildung von Carboxylatestern aus Säuren und Alkoholen, Carboxamiden aus Säuren und Aminen, Lactonen aus -Hydroxysäuren und Carbodiimiden aus N,N-disubstituierten Thioharnstoffen eingesetzt.

Löslichkeit
Löslich in Methanol (50 mg/ml). Nicht in Wasser löslich.

Hinweise
Bei -4 °C lagern. An einem kühlen Ort lagern. Behälter an einem trockenen und gut belüfteten Ort dicht verschlossen halten. Nicht kompatibel mit Oxidationsmitteln.
