1-Octyne is widely used in organic reactions such as halogenation, hydration, oxidative cleavage, hydrogenation, hydrohalogenation, nitrile formation, polymerization and substitution reactions. It is used a precursor for the preparation of monohalogen substituted akenes or dihalogen substituted alkanes on treated with hydrogen halides.

Anwendungen
1-Octyn wird häufig in organischen Reaktionen wie Halogenierung, Hydratation, oxidative Spaltung, Hydrierung, Hydrohalogenierung, Nitrilbildung, Polymerisation und Substitutionsreaktionen verwendet. Es wird als Vorläufer für die Herstellung von monohalogensubstituierten Akenen oder dihalogensubstituierten Alkanen auf mit Wasserstoff behandelten Halogeniden verwendet.

Löslichkeit
Mischbar mit Alkohol, Ether und anderen organischen Lösungsmitteln. Nicht mit Wasser mischbar.

Nicht kompatibel mit Oxidationsmitteln. Von Hitze, Funken, Zündquellen und Flammen fernhalten.
