1-Adamantanemethanol was used in the synthesis of axially disubstituted silicon(IV) phthalocyanines. It is used as a reagent in the synthesis of adamantane and noradamantane based histone deacetylase (HDAC) inhibitors for the treatment of cancer. It is also used as a reagent in the synthesis of (1-adamantyl)methyl glycidyl ether, a versatile building block for living polymerization.

Anwendungen
1-Adamantanmethanol wurde bei der Synthese von axial disubstituierten Silizium(IV)-Phthalocyaninen verwendet. Verwendung als Reagenz bei der Synthese von auf Adamantan und Noradamantan basierenden Histon-Deacetylase(HDAC)-Inhibitoren zur Behandlung von Krebs. Darüber hinaus Einsatz als Reagenz bei der Synthese von (1-Adamantyl)methylglycidylether, einem vielseitigen Baustein für die lebende Polymerisation.

Unlöslich in Wasser. Löslichkeit in Methanol (nahezu Transparenz).
